The community of Springbank Hill has been transitioning from a rural condition to that of a fully serviced city edge community. This transition has seen an explosion of growth in population as well as the infrastructure and services necessary to support this growth.
The parcel located on 26 ave sw is a remnant parcel, as yet unchanged from its rural origins. The project for Baysprings looked at providing a medium density multifamily development on the parcel that would maximize the available density for the site, while also respecting the lower density periphery of the community.
The design strategy illustrates a simple concept of 2 to 3 storey townhomes building out the edges of the site and therefore allowing a more open and communal centre for residents to gather and foster a sense of community.
