Intermediate Architectural Technologist

We are looking for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist to join our team. We are a growing, mid-sized firm located in Calgary with a focus on multi-residential projects situated throughout Alberta, BC and working our way into other provinces.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of construction drawings, including conceiving building envelope architectural details. Has the ability to develop 70% of construction drawing requirements independently and co-ordinates with senior staff and consultants on remainder of project requirements.
- Coordination of architectural documents (drawings, specifications, and CA documentation).
- Work and collaborate with all consulting teams to produce fully coordinated technical construction documents.
- Research of materials and products.
- Prepare by-law and building code analysis.
- Proficiency in drawing; provide Revit and AutoCAD support in all areas of projects and for all levels of detailing.
- Attends project meetings as directed by the Project Manager.
- Applies sound principles and best practices in developing a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to express the design intent and communicate to project team, client, and building user groups.
- Assist in the performance and execution of office Quality Control procedures.
- Take mentorship and guidance from more experienced production team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail; ability to create clear, well laid-out drawings.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Provides shop drawing review.
- Able to interpret and respond to comments provided by the Authority having jurisdiction.
- Oversee work of junior technical staff.
WHAT’S REQUIRED:
The Ideal candidate will have the following credentials:
- Architectural Technology Diploma/Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as an intermediate with Job Captain role experience on various project types in Canada.
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with multi-use, multi-unit residential, industrial, and commercial projects.
- Construction site experience would be an asset.
- Some proficiency in Revit an asset.
