In 2017, FAAS teamed up with Sherger Construction to deliver the City of Calgary Affordable Housing a design-build, multi-unit project in the community of Rosedale. The premise of the project was to create 8 modular structures on remnant parcels, each with a self-contained secondary suite, with a total developed area ranging from 1150 to 1600 sf/unit. All units were designed to achieve LEED for Homes certification and three were designed to be wheelchair accessible. An extensive review of the built form of the community of Rosedale informed the character of the units, resulting in a contextually sensitive design constructed to durable low maintenance materials. In 2019, FAAS received a Mayor’s Urban Design Award for Housing Innovation.
