General Block is a small commercial development in the community of Bridgeland, consisting of three restaurant service bays on the main floor with office space above. The sloped site, located across 7a Street from Murdoch park and on the edge of the Bridgeland Riverside Bluff, offered a unique opportunity for innovative street activation and formal response strategies. The project enhances the public realm to engage with the park to the East, while establishing a strong architectural presence at the prominent corner of the site. The architectural language incorporates the historic aesthetic of the area with the use of brick detailing and arched building forms.
